just received this for Christmas, and as a die hard fan of The Cure's since '88 - this was quite the treat. Having seen Andy Vella (and Parched Art) all over the Cure's artwork for so many albums, it was great to see inside the artistic process and private vaults of the artist. I love this book!

Uncannily correct!

I used this book (mine is an older version) to plot my own horoscope. From the resulting chart I then looked for a description of who I am, what my personality and characteristics are.

It's uncanny but the resulting composite description really describes me. There are things which even I have not been consciously aware of but which now make perfect sense to me.

I believe that knowing yourself is the single most important
first step before anything. And this book really simplifies this process enormously.

Excellent For the Novice or the Interested

I bought this book in the late 1960's and have read it over and over for myself and others. Mr. Goodavage makes it easy to learn about your horoscope - far easier than any other book I have read, which were enough. Now in 2011 I can say that reading back upon the book, much of what he said has come to pass. I'm glad I did pay attention to help develop my better qualities while working on my not so positive traits. I'm re-reading it to have insights into my new grandchild. Highly recommend this book! Mine is falling apart. Must be time for a newer version.

great if you're an old-timer

When I was charting natal horoscopes in the 1970's, Goodavage's descriptions were accurate and insightful for my subjects. I lost my book years ago and was glad to find another, but the charts for dates of birth stop at 1970, so it is not helpful for charting anyone younger than 42. Still, the descriptions in general are helpful if you want to learn about what makes people tick in general.

Excellent volume for a class on film history

I purchased this volume from an excellent seller (Reader24 - Amazon Marketplace). A course I am teaching on film history has information regarding the volume from it's original printing in 1924. Even the 1971 printing with a 1970's look to the cover is difficult to find. An original costs well over $500.00 from what I found in my search, with one volume listed for over $700. The format of the book, indexed in the margins to allow for quick page turns to an appropriate background music, was designed to fit the need of a pianist/organist who was accompanying the silent film action on screen. In that aspect, it is a relic of a bygone era. However, it also serves as a repository of music which would have been familiar to audiences during that same time period, and can be used for short solo pieces. The scope of the work and its detail in finding musical selections for moods was short lived, due to the advent of talking pictures only a few short years after it was first published. However, Erno Rape′e, the author and compiler, had certainly produced a volume of music unlike any other in history. That makes his efforts last beyond the few years it was commonly used and made it an instructional tool, as well as a 694 page volume of indexed music by many well known composers.

While I have never been to Indonesia and therefore can't comment on the accuracy of this book, I will trust that it is as reliable as all of the other wonderfully informative Lonely Planet travel guides. Torn...Six degrees of separation

I was gifted this book and I must say it was one of the best gifts I've received.Talking about six degrees of separation,my goodness if ever there was one. I think every last character is this novel was psychotic. No doubt, Tae was she dealt with a lot but it didn't give her no reason to treat her husband that way. Darnell all he wanted to do was love his wife and that he did. Nae if that's how you love your best friends I'll rather do without. Sharon had to be the craziest of them all to do the things she did; with BK coming in a real close second.Walter I just can't with him, I really think that he is the old man BK was talking about, ugh how gross. Nard has to be the sanest of the bunch and that ain't saying much, but at least he had is partner's back, he actually is a true definition of a friend. i won't give anymore away I just recommend you do get this book. I couldn't put it down and I found myself trying to skip to the back just to see what was going to happen. This is definitely a great read.

Explosive and Exciting!

I couldn't wait for this book to be released, and let me tell you it didn't let me down. I've never seen so many people with tumultuous lives. The way that the Latoya has intertwined their stories was nothing short of amazing. After reading this story it will have you sitting back thinking about the people in your life. Lol! I was saddened by the way it ended, only because I didn't want it to, but I look forward to part 2. Great Job Latoya and I look forward to reading more of your work.

A wonderful read

"Torn" by Latoya Chandler is a fascinating and highly entertaining read. This is the first story by this author I have read, and I found it to be well written and well edited. In the book so many bad things can happen to people through no fault of their own, while with other people one mistake can haunt them forever. And then, there are many points in the story that I thought I knew where things were going, but now I am not so sure. It really is messing with my head! and I loved it :o) The realness of the characters and plot are what makes this book exceptional and I am anxiously waiting for part two! If you like romantic thrillers, this is a wonderful read.
